INSPIRATION IN
EVERY SINGLE
MOMENT

Hi, I’m Emma Mulwa,

I am a professional photographer, journalist, and film scriptwriter with a deep passion for storytelling in all its forms. As the founder of VJ Mulwa Photography, I specialize in capturing powerful visual narratives
rooted in culture, identity, and social justice, while also embracing the vibrancy of live moments because every occasion, whether big or small, deserves to be remembered.

My photography journey began in 2016 when I documented the lives of children living in one of Africa’s largest slums, Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya, for Signis International. my photographs capture the laughter,
the light, and the quiet truths we never want to forget. Over time, my camera has become my voice embedded in emotion, humility, and authenticity.

I’ve had the privilege of capturing moments that matter most: laughter beneath Namibia’s golden sunsets, the quiet tears of wedding vows, and the proud smiles of graduating students. Whether it’s an intimate family
portrait, a live celebration, or a grand event, I approach every frame with the same storytelling passion and careful attention.

As a journalism graduate, my work extends beyond the lens. I’ve contributed to feature writing, including the Women in Mining Association’s “Breaking Ground” article, combining research, storytelling, and visual context to highlight meaningful narratives. My
journalistic background and love for scriptwriting influence every project, guiding me to craft stories with intention, emotional depth, and authenticity.

A major highlight of my career has been working as lead photographer for the NUST-UNESCO project documenting indigenous communities, where I captured the richness of culture, tradition, and resilience of these communities preserving stories that might otherwise be overlooked.

I’ve also had the honour of documenting major national events, including the funerals of President Hage Geingob and Founding Father Dr. Sam Nujoma, as well as the state visit of King Philippe of Belgium.

My work has been featured in The Namibian and Windhoek Observer, and through it all, I remain committed to using stories whether written, visual, or cinematic to shift perspectives, preserve voices, and celebrate the human experience, particularly those often overlooked.

When you choose me as your photographer, you’re not just booking a service, you’re inviting me to step into your world and tell your story with care, authenticity, and an artist’s eye. Together, we’ll create images and narratives you’ll treasure for a lifetime.
